Across the Atlantic, generations of migrants left behind familiar shores in search of something more—a better life, new opportunities, freedom, or simply an escape from war and hardship. But what happens to the memories they leave behind?
In Migrant Echoes: Memories and Crossings of the Great Atlantic Migrations, Hugo Javier Freitas brings together a poignant collection of short stories inspired by the experiences and recollections of migrants who journeyed from Europe to South America, particularly Argentina. Drawn from the memories of migrants themselves, as well as those of elderly relatives and acquaintances, these stories give voice to ordinary people caught in extraordinary circumstances.
Tender, atmospheric, and deeply human, this collection is a moving portrait of migration and the lives forever shaped by the journeys across the Atlantic.
